Character Design • catch up post

Despite not posting it here straight away, progress is being made on the character design.
there have been meetings with Justin to talk about ideas and he's helped me adjust the character to fit the brief more.

There was more research to be done

Motion ideals, toy story, rex in particular

My own sketches began in the wrong kinda era, I then sketched more and more with more advice from the tutors.

I'll admit the companion was more fun, he might look familiar as I took him from an earlier art jam, I quite like his appearance.

The companion still needs to be converted properly into tin/toy material, but the main one is almost good to go, shes not as shiny as shes meant to be but this is her appearance, minus the shine.

Today in particular we were working on scenarios involving our stories and environments.

My story is of the toys helping the actual astronaut to find something to help him fix something.

The room I sketched out first but it's not quite right.
It was recommended I make it the hub of the ship, with a lot more research to get the place to look right, like it belongs in the 60s and that it is definitely a space ship.

Something I've realised is that I am definitely not into making ships, or toy-like creatures.
I enjoy monsters a lot more, its good to get out my comfort zone but it can be also frustrating.
but also looking back through my work here it doesn't look like enough, but when I'm working on it, it feels like so much.
