Giving this old man a texture that looks realistic, gets us through a number of stages and maps shown in the gif above.
A diffusion map is the base skin colour, the subsurface is the same except for its radius setting this is using a redder scatter map.
This needs a lot of adjusting to get to work, and some errors can occur, like having too much displacement.

I showed two other people this image and it grossed them out.
Its an unintended effect but it looks kinda nice for a monster.
